Following a lengthy trial at Old Bailey, all defendants were acquited of charges relating to ‘red mercury’ following a ‘sting’ operation by the News of The World.
Paul Butcher was involved alongside Stephen Solley QC and Adrian Eissa. The case raised concerns over the use of non-police informants, in this case, the ‘Fake Sheikh’. The Guardian report can be seen here.
